Hi friends! It’s me, Jaymie, and this is my story…

It all started with the endless nights back when I was still a child, staying up looking through the boxes of loose photographs, and stacks of family albums that sat in my parents’ basement. I would emerge myself in these photographs passed down from many generations of my family. They felt like portals to another world. Material memories that have outlasted all who stamped those moments into time.

My first camera was my parents’ Pentax IQ 105 zoom point and shoot camera. It traveled with my family everywhere we went. Once Digital format was the norm, I always wondered why our family album no longer carried the same magic that it used to. We often times would lose our .jpegs from our desktop and they would be gone forever. I have always felt the truest medium for photography is film format. I’ve always been attracted to the magic of film; If one day all of technology in the world stopped working, I would still have my negatives.

Photography was always an extension of myself even back when I didn’t even think of it as a career path. Once I was in high school, the spark really ignited. I will never forget developing for the first time in the kitchen of my childhood home; Agitating the chemistry, and being apart of every step of making the photograph come alive. Nothing fills me with joy more than pulling the lid off of the tank and seeing my negatives after playing chemist.

And here we are, finally.

My 13 year old self would be so stoked. She is so proud of for realizing what photography really is to me. I taught myself how to be a photographer by shooting and processing film. Film is what made me fall in love with not only the art but also the science of photography, this is my true passion.

Every film photographer needs a reliable lab. A lab that will handle their film as if it’s their own, treat it with love, and pride themselves on the quality of their work while also helping educate their clients . With the resurgence of film over the past few years, I want to contribute to the movement by providing Spokane film lovers with a reliable, educational, and accessible lab.

I never want my clients to have to go through what I have with labs that cut corners, don’t care for the quality of their clients work, and sometimes aren’t even photographers themselves.
