High resolution scans are the industry standard! You’re getting larger than 4k quality scans. (long edge roughly 3900 or more)
.TIF files are roughly 50-100mb, we don’t mess around when it comes to quality files.
If you opt for .JPG scans, they will be exported at max quality which will yield roughly a 10-20MB file, it depends on how much detail is within the photo itself.

We encourage you to make small edits to your scans after you receive them from us. When ordering Basic scans you will be receiving flat and uncorrected scans right out of the scanner. Selecting file type as .tifs gives creative control back in your hands. This ensures that your film scans have a wider dynamic range, which means that highlights and shadow detail are preserved.
Connect with us if you want some advice on editing film scans or if you’re not sure why your images aren’t looking the way you thought they would. Sometimes it’s not you, it could be your camera not functioning properly. And if you're spending more than a few seconds editing each frame when you receive your scans, we can help dial things in closer to what you’re looking for!

Why did my roll turn out Black or Blank?
There can be hundreds of reasons why your film didn’t produce any images.
The main causes are:
Not loading the film properly in the camera
Severe under or overexposure
Camera malfunction
Not using a flash indoors
Expired or damaged film
Black Roll: Light had exposed entire roll or is fully expired/damanged roll.
Blank Roll: Fresh roll of film or Roll that didn't advance properly in the camera.
If you know you were shooting an appropriate speed film in the right lighting conditions, check on your shutter. If the shutter on your camera doesn’t open, your film can’t get exposed to light, and therefore can’t make an image! Simply open the back of your camera (without film in it, of course), cock the camera’s shutter (if necessary), and look through the lens plane while you click the shutter button. You should see a brief circle of light appear and disappear right before your eyes.
If you know you’re shooting the right speed film in the right lighting conditions and your shutter is working fine, your film may not be advancing within the camera. To make sure your film is advancing within the camera when the back door is closed, simply locate the rewind crank on your camera and watch it as you turn the advance wheel. The rewind crank should spin as you advance the film.

Any blank or expired rolls will be refunded partially ONLY for services that were not able to be completed. We can offer a partial refund for your pro scans, .tiff files, or mailed back negatives only. Any other service not stated above is non-refundable
Any undeveloped film received unspooled or OUTSIDE the film canister (damaged film) will not be accepted for processing.
We are happy to develop any film that is expired. We cannot guarantee the results of your expired film, and will not be able to extend refunds if these results don’t meet your expectations. Expired film is deteriorating film and not covered for refunds on either development or scans. Even if film looks entirely black to the eyes, we still put it through the scanner to confirm if there is any retrievable images.

After developing, negatives are hung to dry. To avoid water spots we use a use anti-lint photo papers to remove all remaining water droplets in conjunction with photoflo. This ensures that there is no chance for negatives to get scratched in our care, and water spots are not an issue. Once dried, negatives are cut and preserved in a plastic industry grade archival sleeve, immediately after scanning. Anytime your negatives are handled, lint-free non-abrasive gloves are worn.
